Question:

A train crosses a 900 metres long platform in 300 seconds. If the length of train is 600 metres. then in how much time does it cross a stationary pole?

Options:

5 minutes

2 minutes

3 minutes

4 minutes

Correct Answer:

2 minutes

Explanation:

Distance = Speed × Time

Speed = \(\frac{DIstance}{Time}\)

Total distance traveled by Train = 900 + 600 = 1500 m

Speed = \(\frac{1500}{300}\) = 5 m/sec

Time required by train to cross a pole ,

length in case of pole = 0

So ,

Speed = \(\frac{600}{5}\) = 120 sec

= 2 minutes
