Question:

Rice worth ₹96 per kg and ₹104 per kg are mixed with a third variety in the ratio 1 : 1 : 2. If the mixture is worth ₹113 per kg, the price of the third variety of rice per kg will be :

Options:

₹109

₹126

₹117

₹128

Correct Answer:

₹126

Explanation:

Cost of 1st variant = Rs. 96/kg

Cost of 2nd variant = Rs. 104/ kg

Cost of 3rd variant = Rs. X /Kg

Ratio of their mixture = 1 : 1 : 2

Cost of mixture = Rs. 113,

⇒ (1 x 90) + (1 x 104) + (2 x X) = 4 x 113

⇒ 90 + 104 + 2X = 452,

⇒ 200 + 2X = 452,

⇒ 2X = 252,

X = Rs. 126.

Hence, the price of the third variety of rice per kg = Rs. 126.
