Question:

What is the area of the largest circle which can be inscribed in a square of side 28 cm?(Take $π =\frac{22}{7}$)

Options:

308 cm2

616 cm2

476 cm2

512 cm2

Correct Answer:

616 cm2

Explanation:

We know that,

Area of square = side2

Area of circle = πr2

We have,

Area of square = 784 cm2

= s2 = 784 cm2

= s = 28 cm

Here we also know that,

Side = Diameter of circle = 28 cm

Radius of circle = \(\frac{28}{2}\) cm = 14 cm

Area of the circle = πr2 = \(\frac{22}{7}\) × 14 × 14

= 616 cm2
