Offset

An offset is a short thick runner like the branch which produces a new plant at its tip. The offsets grow in all directions from the main stem of the parent plant. In offset, nodes in the lateral branch contain a rosette of leaves and tuft of roots. They allow the plant to remain afloat on the support of the offset. It is present in aquatic plants, e.g. Pistia, Eichhornia, Bryophyllum, etc.
