A thief is noticed by a policeman from a distance of 825 m.  The thief starts running and the policeman chases him. The thief and the policeman run at the rate of 7 km and 9.5 km per hour, respectively.  The distance (in meters) between them after 15 minutes is?

200 m

Explanation:

Distance covered by policeman with a relative speed of (9.5 - 7 = 2.5 km/h) in 15 min. = [2.5 × \(\frac{5}{18}\)]m/sec × [15 × 60]sec = 625 meter

Distance between them after 15 mins is = 825 - 625 = 200 m
