In what time a train will cover a distance of 36 km at the speed of 12 km/hr, if it takes 12 minutes’ rest after covering each 1 km distance?

Distance = Speed × Time

speed of train = 12 km/hr 

after 1 km train wait for 12 minutes .

time taken to cover 36 km = \(\frac{36}{12}\) = 3 hours

As he takes rest after 1 km gap for 12 min , he will take test 35 times

Therefore , total time he spent in rest = 12 × 35= 420 min =7 hr

Total time spent in covering 36 km = 7 hr + 3 hr = 10 hr

Thus he will take 10 hour to cover a distance of 36 kms.
