About 15 mya, primates called Dryopithecus and Ramapithecus were existing. They were hairy and walked like gorillas and chimpanzees. Ramapithecus was more man-like while Dryopithecus was more ape-like .

Around 2 million years ago, Australopithecines are believed to have inhabited East African grasslands. They showed evidence of hunting with stone tools but primarily consumed fruit. Some of the bones among the bones discovered were different leading to the identification of the first human-like hominid called Homo habilis, with a brain capacity ranging from 650 to 800cc. They probably did not include meat in their diet.

The next stage in human evolution was revealed by fossils found in Java in 1891, introducing Homo erectus, dating back to around 1.5 million years ago. Homo erectus had a larger brain, approximately 900cc, and likely incorporated meat into their diet.

Neanderthal man, with a brain size of about 1400cc, inhabited the Near East and central Asia between 100,000 and 40,000 years ago. They used hides for protection and practiced burial rituals for their dead. Homo sapiens arose in Africa and moved across continents and developed into distinct races. During ice age between 75,000-10,000 years ago modern Homo sapiens arose.
