Select the most appropriate option to fill in the blank.
Our school had decided to take us to the Himalayas for excursion. I ____ to convince my mother to give consent.
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 4
The most appropriate option to fill in the blank is left no stones unturned.
The other options are not as appropriate because:
- Fought fire with fire means to respond to something with equal or greater force. This is not the most accurate description of trying to convince someone to do something.
- Brought home the bacon means to earn money or provide for one's family. This is not the most accurate description of trying to convince someone to do something.
- Made waves means to cause a disturbance or commotion. This is not the most accurate description of trying to convince someone to do something in a positive way.
Left no stones unturned means to have done everything possible to achieve a goal. This is the most accurate description of trying to convince someone to do something, because it shows that you have put in a lot of effort and thought into the matter.
