Question:

The ratio of monthly savings of Raja and Udit is 23 : 27.  Due to increase in monthly income, their savings also increased by 2100 and 1900 respectively.  Then the ratio of their savings becomes 22 : 23.  Find the difference of the new savings of both.

Options:

100

700

200

400

Correct Answer:

200

Explanation:

Let savings of Raja and Udit be 23x and 27x

New savings of Raja = 23x + 2100

New savings of Udit = 27x + 1900

ATQ,

\(\frac{23x + 2100}{27x + 1900}\) = \(\frac{22}{23}\)

529x + 48300 = 594x = 41800

594x - 529x = 48300 - 41800

65x = 6500

x = 100

New savings:

Raja = 23 × 100 + 2100 = 4400

Udit = 27 × 100 + 1900 = 4600

Required difference = 4600 - 4400 = 200
