Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 2
The correct answer is Option (2) → (A), (D), (C), (B)
(A) Devonian — first. It is the oldest of the four, about 400 million years ago (mya). Fishes were the main vertebrates of this period, so it is often called the age of fishes.
(D) Carboniferous — second. It follows the Devonian and runs to about 300 mya. The early reptiles arose in this period.
(C) Triassic — third. It comes after the Permian, which follows the Carboniferous, and lies between about 250 and 200 mya. Thecodonts and therapsids lived around this time.
(B) Cretaceous — last. It is the most recent of the four, just before the Tertiary. The dinosaurs disappeared at its end, about 65 mya.
