On July 22, 2019, Chandrayaan-2 was launched by ISRO through its rocket:
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 1
The correct answer is Option (1) → GSLV-Mk III
Chandrayaan-2, India’s second mission to the Moon, was launched on 22 July 2019 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, by the GSLV Mk III (flight M1), ISRO’s heaviest rocket, needed for the 3.8-tonne spacecraft. The mission carried an orbiter, the lander Vikram and the rover Pragyan; the lander lost contact during its descent in September 2019, while the orbiter went on studying the Moon from its orbit.
Note: This ‘current affairs’ question is about a launch almost four years before this June 2023 paper. The orbiter had been circling the Moon all that while before NTA got round to asking how it got there.
