In an election between two candidates, one got 60% of the total valid votes, 90% of the votes were valid. If the total number of votes 12000, then what was the number of valid votes that the other candidate are got?

Total number of votes = 12000

Valid votes = 90% of 12000

= 12000 × \(\frac{9}{10}\) = 10800

1st candidate got 60% of the total votes then 2nd candidate got 40%

Valid votes of 2nd candidate = 40% of total valid votes

= 10800 × \(\frac{2}{5}\) 

= 4320
