Question:

For what value of x will |\( -{ A }^{ T } \)| =18 if A = \(\begin{bmatrix}3 & 2\\9 & x \end{bmatrix}\)?

Options:

x=1

x=-1

x=0

x=2

Correct Answer:

x=0

Explanation:

Given that |-\( { A }^{ T } \)| =18

Also,  |\(- { A }^{ T } \)| = \((-1)^{ 2 } \) |\( { A }^{ T } \)|

= \((-1)^{ 2 } \) |A | = |A|

Because |\( { A }^{ T } \) = |A |

So, 18 = |A|

      18= 3x-18

      0= 3x

      0=x
