The perimeter of two squares are 44 cm and 24 cm.  The perimeter of a third square, whose area is equal to difference of the area of these squares, is?

4\(\sqrt {85}\) cm

Explanation:

Perimeter of a square = 4 × side

side of square 1 = \(\frac{perimeter}{4}\)

                        = \(\frac{44}{4}\) = 11 cm

side of square 2 = \(\frac{24}{4}\) = 6 cm

Area of square 1 = (11)2 = 121 cm2

Area of square 2 = (6)2 = 36 cm2

Diff. = 121 - 36 = 85 cm2

area of square 3 = 85 cm2

side = \(\sqrt {85}\)

perimeter of square 3 = 4\(\sqrt {85}\)
