Akbar runs \(\frac{7}{2}\) times as fast as Birbal.  In a race, if Akbar gives a lead of 80 meter to Birbal, find the distance from the starting point where both of them will meet:

Options:

120 meter

112 meter

100 meter

Correct Answer:

112 meter

Explanation:

Speed = \(\frac{Akbar}{Birbal}\) = \(\frac{7}{2}\)

Relative Speed in same direction = 7 - 2 = 5 m/sec

Meeting Time = \(\frac{Distance\;between\;them}{Relative\;speed}\)

                    = \(\frac{80}{5}\) = 16 seconds

Distance from the starting point = Distance covered by Akbar

                                              ⇒ 7 × 16 = 112 meter
