Question:

What is the area (in m2) of a triangular field whose sides measure 25 m, 39 m and 56 m?

Options:

210

240

420

480

Correct Answer:

420

Explanation:

The three sides of a triangle are = 25 m, 39 m and 56 .

Let the sides of triangle = a, b and c

Semi perimeter = \(\frac{a + b + c}{2}\)

Semi perimeter= \(\frac{25 + 39 + 56}{2}\) = 60

Area of a triangle = \(\sqrt {s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c) }\)

= \(\sqrt {60(60-25)(60-39)(60-56) }\)

= \(\sqrt {60(35)(21)(4) }\)

= \(\sqrt {176400}\)  = 420
