Question:

Find the area of a triangle whose length of each side is 13 inches, 15 inches and 14 inches.

Options:

84 square inches

81.2 square inches

42.1 square inches

84.2 square inches

Correct Answer:

84 square inches

Explanation:

Length of each side is 13 inches, 15 inches and 14 inches.

The area of the triangle = \(\sqrt {s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c) }\)

s = \(\frac{a + b + c}{2}\) = \(\frac{13 + 14 + 15}{2}\) = 21

The area of the triangle = \(\sqrt {21(21-13)(21-14)(21-15)}\)

                                  =  \(\sqrt {21(8)(7)(6)}\)

                                  = 84 cm2
