Ashima and Ashutosh were pursuing Electrical Engineering from a prestigious engineering college. During their third year they developed a solar bulb using plastic bottles which can be used indoors. The bulb had a small panel which had to be charged at a stretch for 10 hours in the sun and it would last for 200 hours of usage. The idea was risky as there was a possibility that the market might not accept such a product, but if they do so, then, there would be a revolution in the power industry as it would lead to saving of power in every rural household. The prototype was made but to manufacture and distribute the same, they required around 2.5 crores. Both Ashima and Ashutosh approached some affluent individuals with their comprehensive project report which encompassed the entire range of activities which were being planned in the business. Ashima presented a detailed, well written, and pleasingly formatted plan targeted at external stakeholders. The investors were pleased with the presentation and were ready to invest in their business in exchange for a convertible debt. After a month they started their business Bright and Shine Pvt ltd. in their hometown Bhopal. The business started running and in a matter of 3 weeks reached the level of volume of production at which firm neither makes a profit nor a loss . At the end of the first year the firm made a profit of Rs. 30 lakhs. |
