Question:

Two person Q and R earn in the ratio of 2 : 3. They spend in the ratio 9 : 5 and save in the ratio 4 : 7. Find the monthly income of each if the total monthly savings of both Q and R together is Rs.18700.

Options:

8200, 12300

8400. 12600

8800, 13200

8600, 12900

Correct Answer:

8600, 12900

Explanation:

               Q     :       R        :       Total

Saving     4     :        7        :        11

               ↓ x1700     ↓ x1700        ↓ x1700

              6800       11900           18700 (given)

Now ATQ,

\(\frac{2R - 6800}{3R - 11900}\) = \(\frac{9}{5}\) [ inc. - sav. = exp.]

⇒ 10R - 34000 = 27R - 107100

⇒ 17R = 73100

⇒   1R = 4300

Income of Q = 2R = 8600

               R = 3R = 12900
