Calculate the maximum acceleration of a moving car so that a body lying on the door of the car remains stationary. The coefficient of static friction between the body and the floor is 0.15( g = 10 m s−2). $\mu $N

Correct Answer:

$1.5 ms^{-2}$

Explanation:

For a body to be stationary in cars frame of reference i.e {Non Inertial frame) net force should be equal to zero. Hence frictional force must balance the pseudo force.

$\Rightarrow ma =f_s = \mu_s N = \mu_s mg $

$\Rightarrow a = \mu_s g = 0.15\times 10 m/s^2 = 1.5 m/s^2$
