Amrit Kaur came from the royal family of Kapurthala, Punjab.
She inherited Christianity from her mother Priscilla.
She served as the Minister for Health from the early years of independent India (Nehru's first ministry after independence) until 1957.
Also, Amrit Kaur worked for women's rights, education, & the upliftment of marginalized communities.
She was a member of the Constituent Assembly of India.
