A family consists of a father, mother and son. The ratio of their ages is 8 : 5 : 2 and the present age of the father is 48 years. What will be the average age of family after 3 years ?

                   present age of mother = 5x

                   present age of son = 2x

Given  ⇒ 8x = 48

          ⇒ x = 6

After 3 years, father's age = 51

                    mother's age = 33

                     son's age = 15

Average age of family, after 3 years = \(\frac{51 + 33 + 15}{3}\) = 33 years
