Question:

The distance between the parallel planes $2x- y + 2z + 3 = 0 $ and $4x - 2y + 4z + 5 = 0 $is

Options:

$\frac{1}{3}$

$\frac{2}{6}$

$\frac{2}{3}$

none of these

Correct Answer:

$\frac{2}{6}$

Explanation:

The equations of two planes are $2x- y + 2z + 3 = 0 $ and $2x - y + 2z +\frac{5}{2}= 0.$

 ∴ Required distance $= \frac{|3-\frac{5}{2}|}{\sqrt{4+1 + 4}}= \frac{1}{6}$
