Question:

Ajit Singh left from place P at 9.30 a.m. for place Q. and David Raj left place Q at 1.30 p.m. for place P. The distance between them is 416 km. If Ajit Singh’s speed is 44 km/h and David Raj’s speed is 52 km/h, then at what time will they meet each other?

Options:

4.30 p.m.

5 p.m.

6 p.m.

4 p.m.

Correct Answer:

4 p.m.

Explanation:

We know , Distance = Speed × Time

Distance traveled by Ajit from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm = 44 × 4 = 176 km

Remaining distance = 416 - 176 = 240 km

Relative speed 9 when both moves in same direction)= 44 + 52 = 96 km/h

Time when they meet = \(\frac{240}{96}\) = 2.5 hours

So , They both will meet at 1:30 pm + 2.5 hours = 4:00 pm
