Question:

When f(x) = 15x3 – 14x2 – 4x + 10 is divided by (3x + 2), then the remainder is:

Options:

-1

1

-2

2

Correct Answer:

2

Explanation:

f(x) = 15x3 – 14x2 – 4x + 10 is divided by (3x + 2)

Put 3x + 2 = 0 ,

 x = (-\(\frac{2}{3}\))

put the value of x given equation,

= 15x3 – 14x– 4x + 10,

= 15(-\(\frac{2}{3}\))3 - 14((-\(\frac{2}{3}\))2 - 4(-\(\frac{2}{3}\)) +10

= (-\(\frac{40}{9}\))- (\(\frac{56}{9}\)) + (\(\frac{8}{3}\)) + 10

= (\(\frac{114}{9}\))  - (\(\frac{96}{9}\)) = (\(\frac{18}{9}\)) =2
