Question:

If sin θ = \(\sqrt {3 }\)cos θ, then what is the value of sin2θ?

Options:

\(\sqrt {3 }\)

\(\frac{1}{\sqrt {3 }}\)

\(\frac{\sqrt {3 }}{2}\)

\(\sqrt {2 }\)

Correct Answer:

\(\frac{\sqrt {3 }}{2}\)

Explanation:

sin θ = \(\sqrt {3}\) cos θ

⇒ \(\frac{sin θ}{cos θ}\) = \(\sqrt {3}\) ⇒ tan θ = \(\sqrt {3}\)

θ = 60°

sin 2θ = sin (2× 60°) = sin 120°

            = sin (180 - 60°) = sin 60°

           = \(\frac{\sqrt {3 }}{2}\)
