India, Pakistan and China have a totally different political system but they have one thing in common which is they all followed plans for their economic and social development. China had a command-oriented economic system where as, India and Pakistan followed mixed economic system. Economic development programmes of all the three countries were launched simultaneously in early 1950s. Major development indicators like growth rate, income distribution etc. were more or less same for all the three nations till early 1980s. We can say the indicators of economic development showed low progress. But with the introduction of economic reforms, changes in the level of development could be evidently seen. Studying about the present situation of the 3 countries, we can easily say China has surpassed both India and Pakistan in terms of social and economic development. |
