Question:

Pair of linear equations $2x+ky=5$ and $4x+6y=p$ is inconsistent. Which one of the following cannot be the value of $(k+p)$?

Options:

11

12

13

15

Correct Answer:

13

Explanation:

2x + ky = 5     ---(1)

 4x + 6y = p   ----(2)

Multiply equation 1 by 2 and compare it with equation 2.

4x + 2ky = 10

4x + 6y = p

On comparing ,

2k = 6

k = 3

and p = 10

Now,  ( k + p ) = ( 3 + 10 )

= 13
