A class has five sections that have 25, 30, 40, 45 and 60 students, respectively. The pass percentage of these sections are 20%, 30%, 35%, 40% and 100%, respectively. The pass percentage of the entire class is:

Explanation:

Students passed in section 1  = 25 × \(\frac{20}{100}\) = 5

Students passed  in section 2 = 30 ×  \(\frac{30}{100}\)= 9

Students passed  in section 3 = 40 × \(\frac{35}{100}\) = 14

Students passed in section 4 = 45 × \(\frac{40}{100}\) =18

Students passed in section 5 = 60 × \(\frac{100}{100}\) = 60

Total passed students all section = 5 + 9 + 14 + 18 + 60 = 106

Total number of students = 25 + 30 + 40 + 45 + 60 = 200

Percentage of passed students  = \(\frac{106}{200}\) × 100 = 53%
