Question:

In a 1000 m race. A gives B a start of 100 meters and defeats him by 100 seconds. IF speed of A is 5 m/s, then speed of B is :

Options:

2.5 m/s

4 m/s

3 m/s

5 m/s

Correct Answer:

3 m/s

Explanation:

The correct answer is Option (3) → 3 m/s

$\text{Time taken by A} = \frac{\text{Total Distances}}{\text{Speed of A}}$

$=\frac{1000}{5}=200$ seconds

⇒ Time taken by B = $200 + 100 = 300 s$

Speed = $\frac{900}{300}=3m/s$
