Question:

A cylindrical pipe is made of metal and is open on both side. The inner diameter of this pipe is 11.9 cm and thickness is 0.7cm. If the length of the pipe is 21m, find the volume of the pipe(in m³) -

Options:

0.5 m³

2 m³

0.11319 m3

0.968 m³

Correct Answer:

0.11319 m3

Explanation:

R = 11.9 + 0.7 = 12.6

Volume of pipe =  \(\pi \)h (R2 - r2)

                      =   \(\frac{22}{7}\) ((\(\frac{12.6}{100}\))2 - ((\(\frac{11.9}{100}\))2× 21

                      =  \(\frac{22}{7}\)  ((12.6)2 - (11.9)2)×\(\frac{1}{10000}\) × 21

                      = \(\frac{22}{7}\) (12.6 + 11.9) (12.6 - 11.9)×\(\frac{1}{10000}\) × 21

                      =   22  × 3 × 0.7 × 24.5 ×\(\frac{1}{10000}\) = 0.11319 m3
