Question:

A man spends 15% of his income on house rent, 60% of the rest on household expenses and saves the rest. If he saves ₹52,500, what is his total income (in ₹, rounded off to the nearest tens)?

Options:

154410

145400

154540

154420

Correct Answer:

154410

Explanation:

15% = \(\frac{3}{20}\) , 60% = \(\frac{3}{5}\)

Let the person income =  100x

Expenditure on rent = \(\frac{3}{20}\) × 100x = 15x

Expenditure on household expenses = \(\frac{3}{5}\) × 85x = 51x

Saving = 100x - 15x -  51x = 34x

ATQ,

34x = 52500

x = \(\frac{52500}{34}\) = 1544.1174

100x = 100 × 1544.1174 = 154411.74

= 154410 (approx)
