Question:

If the median of $\frac{x}{5},x,\frac{x}{4},\frac{x}{2}$ and $\frac{x}{3}$ (where $x > 0$) is 8, then the value of $x$ will be

Options:

24

32

8

16

Correct Answer:

24

Explanation:

We have,

The median of $\frac{x}{5},x,\frac{x}{4},\frac{x}{2}$ and $\frac{x}{3}$ = 8

Arrange the above data in descending order,

\(\frac{x}{5}\), \(\frac{x}{4}\), \(\frac{x}{3}\), \(\frac{x}{2}\), x

The median is the middle term =  \(\frac{x}{3}\)

\(\frac{x}{3}\) = 8

x = 24
