Similar to behavior therapy, cognitive therapy is problem-focused (i.e. focuses on solving a specific problem of the client) and involves the therapist sharing their methods with the client. It is a shorter-term therapy, typically lasting between 10 to 20 sessions, distinguishing it from psycho-dynamic therapy. Psycho-dynamic therapy, on the other hand, typically explores deeper unconscious processes and may not always be as problem-focused in the same way that Cognitive and Behavior therapies are. |
