Geeta runs 5/2 times as fast as Babita. In a race, if Geeta gives a lead of 40 m to Babita, find the distance from the starting point where both of them will meet (correct up to two decimal places).

Options:

66.67 m

Correct Answer:

66.67 m

Explanation:

Let speed of Babita  = 2S , So , Speed of Geeta = 5S

Let distance travled by Geeta = x m

So , Distance travled by Babita = x - 40

According to question ,

Speed is directly proportional  to Distance

\(\frac{2S}{5S}\) = \(\frac{x - 40}{x}\)

2x = 5x - 200

3x = 200

x = \(\frac{200}{3}\) = 66.67m

So , the distance from the starting point where both of them will meet is 66.67 m .
