Question:

The length of each diagonal of a rectangle is 50 cm. If its breadth is 14 cm, then what will be the area of the rectangle?

Options:

784

672

832

716

Correct Answer:

672

Explanation:

The length of each diagonal of a rectangle is 50 cm

The breadth of rectangle is 14 cm

We know that,

 (hypotenuse)2=(Base)2+( Length)2

= Diagonal = hypotenuse = 50 cm

= Breadth = Base = b = 14 cm

= Length = l

According to the Pythagorean theorem =

(50)2=(14)2+ (Length)2

2500 = 196 + (Length)2

2304 = (Length)2

Length = 48

Area of the rectangle = length × breadth

 = 48 × 14 = 672 cm2
