A metallic solid cuboid of dimensions 36 cm × 18 cm × 12 cm is melted and recast in the form of cubes of side 6 cm. Find the number of cubes so formed.

We know that,

Volume of cuboid = L × H × B

Volume of cube = a³

Given,

Dimensions of cuboid =

l = 36 cm

b = 18 cm

h = 12 cm

Side of each cube = 6 cm

Let the number of cubes to be formed is x

So,

36 × 18 × 12 = x(6³)

= 36 × 18 × 12 = 216x

= x = (36 × 18 × 12) × \(\frac{2}{216}\)

= x = 36

So, total of 36 cubes can be formed
