Question:

A train of length 150 m takes 10 seconds to pass over another train 100 m long coming from the opposite direction. If the speed of the first train be 30 kmph, the speed of the second train is :

Options:

36 kmph

54 kmph

60 kmph

72 kmph

Correct Answer:

60 kmph

Explanation:

Speed = \(\frac{ Distance}{ Time}\)

(30 + x) x \(\frac{5 }{ 18}\) = \(\frac{\text{150 + 100}}{ 10}\)

30 + x = \(\frac{\text{150 + 100}}{ 10}\) x \(\frac{18 }{ 5}\)

30 + x = \(\frac{\text{250}}{ 10}\) x \(\frac{18 }{ 5}\)

30 + x = \(\frac{\text{250}}{ 10}\) x \(\frac{18 }{ 5}\)

30 + x = 90

x = 60 km/hr
