Question:

Trains A and B of lengths 329 m and 296 m. respectively, are running in opposite directions on parallel tracks, at the speeds of 85 km/h and 65 km/h, respectively. In what time (in seconds) will they cross each other?

Options:

15

15.5

14

16.5

Correct Answer:

15

Explanation:

Relative speed = 85 + 65 = 150 km/h

150 km/h = 150 × \(\frac{5}{18}\) = \(\frac{125}{3}\) m/sec

Total distance = 329 +  296 = 625 m

Time taken by trains to cross each other = \(\frac{625 × 3}{125}\)

= 15 sec
