Question:

The age of father is three times of his son. Six years ago the age of son was 1/6 times of his father. At the time of marriage his mother was 5 years younger to his father. Find the present age of mother.

Options:

20 years

24 years

25 years

28 years

Correct Answer:

25 years

Explanation:

 Let present age of son = x

Then according to question age of father is 3 times of age of son at present .

i.e. age of father = 3x

6 years ago, the age of son is \(\frac{1}{6}\) of age of father .

(3x - 6 )= 6 ( x - 6 )

3x - 6 = 6x - 36

3x = 30

x= 10

Age of father = 3x = 30 years

As it is mentioned in question that his mother is 5 years younger to his father . At present she is also 5 years younger to his father .

So, age of mother = 30 - 5 = 25 years
