If a shopkeeper sells a table at 12.5 % profit and a chair at 8.33 % loss, he gains ₹ 25 in whole transaction. If he sells the table at 8.33 % loss and the chair at 12.5 % profit he earns neither profit nor loss. Find sum of the cost price of the table and chair.

Options:

₹ 600

₹ 590

₹ 420

₹ 510

Correct Answer:

₹ 600

Explanation:

 T × 12.5% - C × 8.33% = 25  ------- (i)

-T × 8.33% + C × 12.5% = 0

                     C × \(\frac{25}{2}\) = T × \(\frac{25}{3}\)

                             \(\frac{T}{C}\) = \(\frac{3}{2}\)

3R × \(\frac{25}{2 × 100}\) - 2R × \(\frac{25}{3 × 100}\) = 25

5R = 600

Table + Chair = 3R + 2R = 5R = 600
