Question:

A square has the perimeter equal to the circumference of a circle having radius 7 cm. What is the ratio of the area of the circle to area of the square? (Use π = $\frac{22}{7}$)

Options:

121 : 44

7 : 2

14 : 11

7 : 11

Correct Answer:

14 : 11

Explanation:

Here,

Perimeter of square = Perimeter of circle

4s = 2πr

4s = 2 × \(\frac{22}{7}\) × 7

4s = 44

s = 11 cm

Area of circle = \(\frac{22}{7}\) × 7 × 7 = 154 cm2

Area of square = (11)2 = 121

Now,

The ratio of the area of the circle to area of the square = 154 : 121 = 14 : 11
