The average production in 2000 and 2001 was less than the average production of which of the following pairs of years ?

2001 and 2002

Average production in 2000 and 2001 = \(\frac{50 + 75 }{2 }\) = 62.5

Now , Solve one by one fro each option.

1. 2001 and 2002

Average production in 2001 and 2002 = \(\frac{75+80 }{2 }\) = 77.5

2. 1997 and 1998

Average production in 1997 and 1998 = \(\frac{ 60 + 45 }{2 }\) = 52.5

3. 1999 and 2000

Average production in 1999 and 2000 = \(\frac{65+50}{2 }\) = 57.5

4. 1996 and 1997

Average production in 1996 and 1997 = \(\frac{40+60 }{2 }\) = 50

It is clearly seen that average production of 2000 and 2001 is only less than average production of 2001 and 2002.
