Question:

A train having length 150 m passes a platform of 550 m length. The time taken for it is 56 seconds. In how much time will this train take to pass the platform of 250 m length?

Options:

32 seconds

24 seconds

28 seconds

30 seconds

Correct Answer:

32 seconds

Explanation:

Speed = \(\frac{Distance }{Time }\)

Speed = \(\frac{\text{150 + 550}}{56 }\) -------1st equation

Speed = \(\frac{\text{150 + 250}}{Time }\) -------2nd equation

From 1st and 2nd equation it can be deduced that:

\(\frac{\text{150 + 550}}{56 }\) = \(\frac{\text{150 + 250}}{Time }\)

\(\frac{\text{700}}{56 }\) = \(\frac{\text{400}}{Time }\)

Time = \(\frac{\text{400}}{12.5 }\)

Time = 32 seconds
