Question:

Ramu start travling from his farmhouse at 50 km/h and reaches home late by 13 minutes. If he travel at 40 km/h, he reaches his home late by 28 minutes.  The distance (in km) from his farmhouse to his home is?

Options:

40 km

50 km

60 km

30 km

Correct Answer:

50 km

Explanation:

Let total distance b/w farmhouse and home = 200 km. (LCM of speeds 50 & 40)

So Distance = speed × time

Therefore,

In 1st case ⇒ Time = \(\frac{200}{50}\) = 4 hrs.

In 2nd case ⇒ Time = \(\frac{200}{40}\) = 5 hrs.

Time difference = 5 - 4 = 1 hr, so distance = 200 km.

ATQ,

Time difference is = (28 min - 13 min) = 15 min = \(\frac{15}{60}\) hrs. = \(\frac{1}{4}\) hrs.

So distance = 200 × \(\frac{1}{4}\) = 50 km
