Question:

What is the difference of mean and median of the given data : 4, 13, 8, 15, 9, 21, 18, 23, 35, 1?

Options:

0.7

1.7

1.2

2.1

Correct Answer:

0.7

Explanation:

First of all we have to arrange the given data in ascending order

1, 4, 8, 9, 13, 15, 18, 21, 23, 35

Now, Mean = \(\frac{(1 + 4 + 8 + 9 + 13 + 15 + 18 + 21 + 23 + 35)}{10}\)

⇒ Mean = 14.7

And median = \(\frac{(13 + 15)}{2}\)= 14

So, the required difference = 14.7 – 14

∴ The difference between mean and median of the above data is 0.7
