Question:

A person goes to his office by scooter at the speed of 80 km/hr and reaches 60 minutes earlier. If he goes at the speed 50 km/hr, then he reaches 48 minutes late. What will be the speed of the scooter to reach on the usual time?

Options:

64 km/hr

66 km/hr

60 km/hr

62 km/hr

Correct Answer:

60 km/hr

Explanation:

Let the actual time taken = T hours

And, speed of scooter to reach the office on time be x .

Distance = speed  × time

According to question,

80(T - 60) = 50(T + 48)

8T - 480 = 5T + 240

3T = 720

T = 240 min

= 4 hours

With 80km/h speed he reaches in 3 hours

So , Distance = 80 × 3 = 240 km

Usual speed =  \(\frac{240}{4}\)

= 60 km/h
