The area of a circular park is 12474 m². There is 3.5 m wide path around the park. What is the area (in m²) of the path ? (Take π = $\frac{22}{7}$)

We know that,

Area of circle = πr²

Given,

Area of a circular park = 12474 m²

Width of the path = 3.5 m 

= πr² = 12474

= r² = 12474 × \(\frac{7}{22}\)

= r² = 81 × 49

= r = 63 m

New radius = R = 63 m + 3.5 m = 66.5 m 

Area of the path = πR² - πr² = \(\frac{22}{7}\) × 66.5 × 66.5 - 12474

= 13898.5 - 12474 

= 1424.5 m²
