Question:

A conical cup is filled with ice cream. The ice cream forms a hemispherical shape on the top. The height of the hemisphere part is 7 cm and the height of conical cup is 13 cm. The volume of ice cream in cubic cm is -

Options:

308 cm³

770 cm³

1131 cm³

1386 cm³

Correct Answer:

1386 cm³

Explanation:

Height of hemisphere = radius of hemisphere = 7 cm

Volume of figure = Volume of hemisphere + volume of cone

                          =\(\frac{2}{3}\) \(\pi \)r3 + \(\frac{1}{3}\) \(\pi \)r2h

                         = \(\frac{1}{3}\) \(\pi \)r2(2r + h)

                         = \(\frac{1}{3}\) \(\pi \) × 7 × 7 (14 + 13)

                         = \(\frac{22}{7}\) × \(\frac{1}{3}\) × 7 × 7 × 27

                         = 1386 cm3
