Question:

How many solid spherical balls each of diameter 1.5 cm can be made by melting a solid cylinder with height 36 cm and base radius 8 cm?

Options:

4,096

1,458

729

5,832

Correct Answer:

4,096

Explanation:

We know that,

Solid cylinder with height 36 cm and base radius 8 cm

Volume of the cylinder = πr2h = π(8)2(36)  = π2304

The diameter of each spherical ball = 1.5 cm

Then radius = 1.5/2

So the volume of the spherical ball = \(\frac{4}{3}\) πr3 = \(\frac{4}{3}\) π(1.5/2)3 = π0.5625

Let the no. of spherical balls made = n

So, n × π0.5625 = π2304

n = 4096
